Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Paro Airport and then drive to the capital city Thimphu.
A scenic flight to Paro Airport, in a clear weather you will be amazed to see the highest peak of the world, Mt. Everest. Our representative will receive you in the Airport terminal. From there enjoying various sight-seeing places, we drive to the capital city of Thimphu.
Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing tour
After our early breakfast, we get ready for the full day sightseeing tour. We visit Memorial Chorten, Zilukha Nunnery, Takin Sanctuary, Indigenous Hospital, Textile Museum, and Heritage Museum, Traditional School of arts & crafts and Tashicho Dzong. Upon available time, you will also visit Zangdopelri temple, paper factory and other sights.
Day 3: Thimphu - Punakha
Drive to Punakha and visit the Punakha dzong, the second oldest in Bhutan built in 1637. We will also visit Chime Lhakhang. During the drive we can enjoy the scenic mountain views from the vantage points at high pass. We also visit local markets in Wangdue which is popular for wood carving products and handy crafts.
Day 4: Excursion to Gangtey Valley
Visit here the Gangtey Gompa : Perched on a small hill that rises from the valley floor, the Gangtey Monastery is the only Nyingmapa monastery on the western side of the Black Mountain’s and also the biggest Nyingmapa monastery in Bhutan.
Then explore the fascainting Phobjikha Valley. This place is the winter home of black necked cranes that migrate from the arid plains in the north to pass winter in milder and lower climate. and also also visit Black Neck Crane Information Centre. The centre also offers display information that outline the natural and cultural history of the area. Later in the afternoon drive back to Punakha / Wangduephodrang, overnight stay.
Day 5: Drive Punakha to Paro
Today you will drive back to Thimphu and you walk around the Hontsho village where The Tibetan refugees are living then continue the drive to Paro. Visit Simtokha Dzong.
Day 6: Paro Sightseeing
After breakfast excursion to Taktshang Monastery (approx 5 hours round trip walk). It is one of the most famous of Bhutan’s monasteries, perched on the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is called ‘Tiger’s Nest’. This site has been recognized as a most sacred place and visited by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646 and now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime.
Along the way, visit the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples built in the Himalayas by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo. The building of this temple marks the introduction of Buddhism in Bhutan.
Evening an exploratory walk around main street and market area.
Day 7: Depart from Paro
The trip is over; our representatives will drop you to Airport for your flight to onward destinations.
